42 degrees south
In praise of Tasmania… the wines reflect the pristine atmosphere of the island state and Australia's coolest climate with crisp, fresh acidity and well defined fruit flavours. – Jancis Robinson, FT 24 March 2007
Tasmania is rapidly gaining the reputation as one of Australia’s premier wine growing regions. Sugarloaf Ridge is situated 35km from Hobart in Tasmania’s south eastern wine region. Overlooking Frederick Henry Bay, the vineyard has stunning 360° panoramic views.
At 42° south latitude – equivalent to Marlborough in New Zealand and conversely to southern Burgundy in France – our vineyard is ideal for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.
